Sustainability

Sustainability is a principle of action in the use of resources. The aim is to ensure that needs are met in the long term by preserving the natural regenerative capacity of the systems involved, especially of living organisms and ecosystems.

The concept of sustainability originates from a forest-economic perspective with the intention of creating a stable balance.

Since then, sustainability standards have been established in many areas of life.

What they have in common is that there is an overlap and synergism between the following areas:

  • longevity
  • conservation of resources
  • environmental compatibility
  • a positive social component

We are able to offer a process for CO₂ recovery that meets such a definition.

This is achieved, among other things, by:

  • using a regenerative biogenic acceptor compound, whereby its production does not compete with edible products, by using fermentation of plant residues;
  • using non-toxic process media, which also do not represent hazardous substances;
  • complete recirculation of the process media and avoidance of waste streams/waste materials.
  • high energy efficiency of CO₂ recovery using only electrical energy
  • high extraction rate of CO₂ (almost 100%) from a gas/air mixture and high purity of the CO₂ obtained (>99vol%);
  • high flexibility in system operation, especially with regard to the availability of electrical energy or CO₂;
  • fully automatic process control;
  • longevity of the process components, which have no wearing parts;
  • location-independent plant technology (container design);
  • compact and space-saving process technology;

In addition to the sustainability of the process technology itself, there are other aspects to be considered when integrating CO2 recovery into the overall process of a carbon cycle economy:

  • CO₂ recovery can be operated with any CO₂ source and CO₂ concentration in the source gas (0.04 to 100vol % CO₂) with virtually the same plant technology;
  • Absorption into the acceptor medium can take place independently of the release of CO₂ in terms of time and space;

In principle, this makes it possible to recover CO₂ from any source.

Due to the immediate purity of the CO₂, all processes with which a material conversion of CO₂ is possible can be carried out immediately.
